Plain-language summary
Attenda is a local-first attendance tracker. The groups, members, attendance logs, photos, and settings you create live only on your device — they are never uploaded, synced, or sent to a server. We do not run analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. The only outbound network traffic Attenda generates is the subscription validation needed to confirm your trial or paid plan with the app store (see §3). The app also supports an optional newsletter signup that is off by default — if you opt in (during onboarding or from Settings), your email is sent to our email service provider (see §1.4); otherwise the app stays silent.
If you uninstall the app, all your local data is deleted with it.
1. Information we collect
1.1 Information stored only on your device
When you use Attenda, you create the following data, all of which is stored locally on your device using Android's encrypted application storage:
- Group names, sections, and member rosters
- Member details you enter (name, role, optional ID number, optional birthday, optional email, optional phone, optional notes)
- Member photos you choose to add (selected from your device's photo library)
- Attendance logs and history
- App preferences (sort order, attendance-counting rules, theme, etc.)
This data is never transmitted to AnchorKite LLC or to any third party. It is not backed up to any cloud service by Attenda.
1.2 Subscription validation
When you start a free trial or purchase a subscription, Attenda relies on the app store's billing system to validate your entitlement. The validation provider receives:
- A randomly generated app-user ID that identifies your subscription within our system. It is not linked to your name, email, device ID, advertising ID, or any other personally identifying information.
- The purchase receipt issued by the Google Play Store (or Apple App Store).
This is the minimum required to confirm that your trial is active or your subscription is paid. Details on the third-party provider are in §3.
1.3 Information we do not collect
Attenda does not collect, transmit, or process:
- Analytics or telemetry
- Crash reports or device fingerprints
- Advertising identifiers (no ads, no ad networks)
- Location data
- Contacts, calendar, or other device data outside the photos you explicitly pick
- Any background activity while the app is closed beyond the subscription-validation call described in §1.2
1.4 Optional newsletter signup
If you opt in to the AnchorKite newsletter — either during onboarding or from Settings → Newsletter & updates — Attenda transmits your email address, opt-in timestamp, and a source tag (e.g., attenda-app-onboarding) to Kit (kit.com), our email service provider. No other information is sent.
Your email is used solely to send occasional product updates from AnchorKite (about once or twice a month). It is never shared, sold, used for advertising, or combined with the subscription-validation record described in §1.2.
Newsletter opt-in is off by default. To opt out at any time: toggle Settings → Newsletter & updates off, or click the unsubscribe link in any email you receive. Either action removes you from the list.
If you also signed up via anchorkite.com or another AnchorKite web property, those signups feed the same Kit list — see the AnchorKite privacy policy for details on web touchpoints.
2. How information is used
Information stored locally on your device is used solely to operate the app for you (display your groups, tally attendance, etc.).
The subscription-validation data described in §1.2 is used solely to determine whether your trial or paid subscription is currently active, so the app can unlock or lock its features accordingly. It is not used for marketing, profiling, or any other purpose.
The newsletter opt-in data described in §1.4 is used solely to send AnchorKite product updates. It is not used for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to the newsletter.
3. Third-party services
We use a minimal set of third parties:
- RevenueCat (
revenuecat.com) — handles subscription-validation for trials and paid plans. They receive the anonymous app-user ID and the Play Store / App Store receipt described in §1.2, and return whether your entitlement is currently active. Their privacy policy: revenuecat.com/privacy - Google Play Billing / Apple App Store Billing — process your subscription payment under their own terms and privacy policies. We do not see your payment details.
- Kit (
kit.com, formerly ConvertKit) — handles delivery of the optional AnchorKite newsletter if you opt in (see §1.4). They receive your email address and the source tag. Their privacy policy: kit.com/privacy - i.pravatar.cc — used to generate default placeholder avatar images for the app's seeded sample data shown only in developer / demo mode. No personal data is sent; the URL is static and based on a hash of the seed-member email. You can replace any seeded avatar with a photo from your device at any time.
We do not use Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, Sentry, or any other analytics or crash-reporting service in the current version of Attenda.
4. Children's privacy
Attenda is suitable for use by educators, coaches, and group leaders to track attendance — including in classroom settings with children. The app does not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. The adult operator of the device (the teacher, coach, or organizer) is responsible for managing any roster information that may include minors, and that information remains entirely on the operator's device.
We do not direct the app to children under 13.
5. Data deletion and your rights
5.1 Local data
Because all of your group/member/attendance data lives on your device, you control it directly:
- Delete a single group or member — use the app's delete options
- Wipe everything — Settings → Danger Zone → Wipe all data
- Uninstall the app — Android removes all of Attenda's storage, including the avatar sandbox
5.2 Subscription data
To delete the anonymous subscription record held by our validation provider, cancel your subscription in the Play Store / App Store and then contact legal@anchorkite.com to request deletion. We will remove the record within 30 days.
5.3 Newsletter data
To remove your email from the AnchorKite newsletter list, toggle Settings → Newsletter & updates off, or click the unsubscribe link in any email you receive. To request full deletion of your newsletter record (not just unsubscribe), contact legal@anchorkite.com and we will remove it within 30 days.
5.4 Other rights
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under privacy laws such as the EU GDPR or California's CCPA — including the right to access, correct, or receive a copy of personal information associated with you. To exercise these rights, contact legal@anchorkite.com.
6. Security
Local data is stored in Android's per-app encrypted storage and is not accessible to other apps. The subscription-validation call described in §1.2 and the newsletter opt-in described in §1.4 are sent over HTTPS.
No system is perfectly secure. We make commercially reasonable efforts to protect the data we process; if we ever discover a breach affecting it, we will notify affected users.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Effective date" at the top reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be communicated via the app.
