Plain-language summary

Codexia is a personal book-catalog app. Your library (books, notes, copies, and any cover photos you add) lives only on your device, in a local database. There are no accounts, no sign-in, no cloud sync, no ads, no analytics, and no crash reporting.

Codexia makes two kinds of network requests. When you scan or type an ISBN, it sends that ISBN to Open Library to look up the book's details and cover (see §1.2). When you start a trial or make a purchase, the app store and our purchase provider confirm it (see §1.3). Nothing else leaves your device unless you choose to export your library.

If you uninstall the app, all your local data is deleted with it.

1. Information we collect

1.1 Information stored only on your device

When you use Codexia, you create the following data, all of which is stored only on your device in a local SQLite database and the app's private storage:

  • The books in your library (ISBN, title, authors, publisher and other details)
  • Notes and copy counts you record
  • Cover photos you take or pick from your photo library
  • App preferences (default scanner, library view and sort order, and similar settings)

This data is never transmitted to AnchorKite LLC. It is not backed up to any cloud service by Codexia.

1.2 Book lookups (Open Library)

When you scan or type an ISBN, Codexia sends that ISBN to the Open Library API (openlibrary.org, run by the Internet Archive) to fetch the book's title, authors, and publisher, and downloads the book's cover image from covers.openlibrary.org. No other personal data is sent. Like any web request, these requests expose your device's IP address to Open Library. Open Library's own privacy policy applies to those requests.

1.3 Purchases

Codexia offers subscriptions (monthly or yearly, each with a 7-day free trial for new subscribers) and a one-time lifetime unlock. Payments are processed by Google Play (and, on iOS, by the Apple App Store). To confirm your purchase, our purchase provider receives:

  • A randomly generated, anonymous app-user ID. It is not linked to your name, email, device ID, advertising ID, or any other personally identifying information.
  • Your purchase history and receipts issued by Google Play (or the Apple App Store).

AnchorKite does not receive your payment card details. Details on the provider are in §3.

1.4 Camera and photo library

Codexia uses the camera to read ISBN barcodes. Barcode reading happens on the device (Google ML Kit, on-device). You can also use the camera to take a cover photo for a book. Camera images are not uploaded anywhere.

You can pick a cover image from your photo library through the system photo picker. The picked image is copied into the app's own storage only.

1.5 Export

You can export your library to a file. The file is created on your device, and it goes only where you choose to share or save it.

1.6 Information we do not collect

Codexia does not collect, transmit, or process:

  • Accounts, sign-in details, or email addresses
  • Analytics or telemetry
  • Crash reports or device fingerprints
  • Advertising identifiers (no ads, no ad networks)
  • Location data
  • Contacts, calendar, or other device data outside the photos you explicitly pick

2. How information is used

Information stored on your device is used solely to operate the app for you (show your library, search it, and so on).

The ISBN described in §1.2 is used solely to look up the book you scanned or typed.

The purchase data described in §1.3 is used solely to determine whether your trial, subscription, or lifetime unlock is active, so the app can unlock its features. It is not used for marketing, profiling, or any other purpose.

3. Third-party services

We use a minimal set of third parties:

  • Open Library (openlibrary.org, run by the Internet Archive) receives the ISBNs you look up and serves book details and cover images (see §1.2). The Internet Archive's own privacy policy applies to those requests.
  • RevenueCat (revenuecat.com) is our purchase and entitlement service provider. It receives the anonymous app-user ID and the purchase history and receipts described in §1.3, and reports whether your entitlement is active. Their privacy policy: revenuecat.com/privacy
  • Google Play Billing / Apple App Store Billing process your payment under their own terms and privacy policies. We do not see your payment details.

We do not use Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, Sentry, or any other analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting service in Codexia.

4. Children's privacy

Codexia is not directed at children under 13. The app's target audience is adults (18+).

5. Data deletion and your rights

5.1 Local data

Because your library lives on your device, you control it directly. Delete individual books in the app, or uninstall the app to delete all of Codexia's local data, including cover photos.

5.2 Purchase records

To request deletion of the purchase records held by RevenueCat, email support@anchorkite.com.

5.3 Other rights

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under privacy laws such as the EU GDPR or California's CCPA, including the right to access, correct, or receive a copy of personal information associated with you. To exercise these rights, contact support@anchorkite.com.

6. Security

Your library is stored in the app's private storage on your device and is not accessible to other apps. Book lookups (§1.2) and purchase validation (§1.3) are sent over HTTPS, so data is encrypted in transit.

No system is perfectly secure. We make commercially reasonable efforts to protect the data we process.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Effective date" at the top reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be communicated via the app.
